Attendees: ber, josef, ike, jmiz, emil, dave, onno, mikey1 Played around with iChat AV and as usual for our group, had mixed or no results. In particular no one in the room could video or audio chat with anyone else in the room. jmiz suggested this was an optimization, what with the partcipants being in the same room and all. Get it? We were able to do a nice A/V chat with scotty woo woo in the UK to prove *something* works. Clearly a the udp traffic to and from the same applications behind the same NAT firewalls is confusing for man and machine alike. I don't think we came to a consensus about exactly why this was b0rked. For the record, Apple Remote Desktop failed to work again. Dave dubbed lesmuug "the twilight zone". We talked about WWDC and MacHack, mentioning Unstoppable Progress, the winner of MacHack's Best Hack Contest. Ike had something to say about OS X Security - possibly that he was reading a book, and there was discussion of dummynet which may be included in Darwin 7. We talked development and getting started on it in Mac OS X for those new to it - Obj-C, C++, Java, etc. What's Object Oriented Programming? Is C++ OO? Language comparisons. Python, Perl, and others. The C++ guys were absent so we trashed it. I don't recall anyone defending Perl either. Par for the course my 12" powerbook went completely out to lunch at some point while I was trying to use it for something undoubtedly very important. We looked at onno's very cool web site. I have a note here that says "Dave?" and another that says "ike's python doc web page" but no url. It was probably on the powerbook when it went South. Further cryptic notes include "credit card", "usa camera" (I'll bet it's supposed to be usb) and "disk yank". Fascinating. Mikey came up a lesmuug motto - "learn one new thing". And then there's the corollary - "forget the rest".
