Attendees: bub (chairing in ber's absence), dave, joe, jmiz, ike. Bub bought a growler of smiling pumpkin ale, and made butternut squash apple soup Joe got there early and ichated with ber Joe brought up a panther install problem, which his son actually had. you back up your old OS to a firewire disk, install panther, reboot, and then it goes out and destroys the disk. the files are salvagable, but the disk isn't mountable. on the day of the meeting there had been 276 msgs on this in a thread in the Apple Forums. at that time apple had no solution. [update - apple has since released 10.3.1 to address the issue] Dave flaunted his apple dog tags bub brought him from the panther opening giveaway at the apple store. discussion of ichat and the fast switching Ike installed panther, says Panther's case sensitive HFS+ broke some apps. Dave discussed his positive experience with apple repair - his mom smashed his iBook but Apple fixed it under warranty Ike explained initializing hard drives to dave after discussion of super computing and cooling everyone looked at the ice sculpture pictures from Mizels' Dave kicked over bub's beer, ike saved it from running into the power supply, and made sure it was put in the notes meeting ended at 8:40 [thanks to bub for making the October meeting happen] *at Hollandsche Rading |
