Attendees: ike, bub, jmiz, george, hans, onno, ber

Watched home movies on .Mac. At some point food arrived in the form of subway sandwiches and chips. We shared the chips. Wondered about vsdbutil which led into .hidden/ignore ownership/GetFileInfo/SetFile. We spent some time playing with the ignore ownership checkbox in the Get Info window to see what it was doing. It causes chown/grp to be ignored when issued as well as with respect to file access. Just like it says. The checkbox state seems to be stored on the system, not the removable disk.

Described an iPod hack to show battery usage as a integer by touching a file. Then the discussion turned to travel - vodka, Poland and Cuba. Not long after bub and jmiz went searching out DVDs. Mentioned the teleport, the program that lets you move focus among multiple computers.

We addressed the question of which unix onno should run if wants to mess around with the OS. NetBSD, Darwin? Whatever boots, seemed to be the consensus. Onno started downloading opendarwin 7.0.1.

Filevault vs Cryptographic Disk Driver? Perry reminiscences (which ike opted out of). I was told google makes a pretty good spell checker/suggester. And indeed it does. Not the links, but the "do you mean?".

We ragged on the progress bar/time estimates algorithms in OSX - about 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 1 minute, 5 minutes, etc. The Apple Sales Animal story was related. Argued about how useful Max OS X Server was for non-technical types.

Of course phones came into the conversaton - which providers supply bluetooth phones.

Toured through the server admin tools and chewed on crypt, shadow and open directory passwords. Ike and onno conferenced at the bookshelf.

A couple people were interested in berbell/btl history, etc. Also folklore.org was recommended.

Ike forgot something while he was talking.

10:10pm - started to wrap it up - located an opendarwin install cd.
