George brought a spider plant clipping, bsd stickers for the glowing apple on laptops and Usenix flyers.

Demonstrated Heredis to joe. Spoke of the upcoming Boston Usenix. George invited everyone to stay in his room.

Discussed service providers (cloud9, panix - and their original Mac IIfx), colo sites such as internap and lesmuug deals. Some tips on how to get discounts on Apple stuff. Surprisingly, one technique is to simply ask - even at the Apple store. It was reported the Mac Warehouse guy didn't respond to email so that offer has been stricken.

Wondered if you can use Apple's Server Admin against non-Mac machines... probably not without considerable hacking.

Food issues were put on the table.

Talked about fp firewall, carp, soekris.com and geekculture, particulary AY2K. Start at the beginning.

Ike went out for food and returned with pizza. Polled for interest in a VuScan eval license. Joe spoke of how cool his HP 4670 scanner was. Apparently you can hold it up to something like a wall and scan the wallpaper.

My notes here say "CSV (will I remember what this means)". I do not. But I do know what PDA software means and there was some talk of that as well as some gossip and hashing of Apple ProCare.

Went through a list of talking points:

• defaults write com.apple.iTunes invertStoreLinks -bool YES
• sudo plutil -s ~/Library/Preferences/*.plist
• vsdbutil -h
• Safari: Using "lastVisitedDate" to tell the last time a website was visited
• Mac OS X Mail: "The server rejected the password" alert, even with correct password
• Apple Authorized Business Agent Program
• Mail.app uses a uuid when it generates message-id's
• PlistBuddy --help

Ike wanted "replacing is not technically impressive" entered into the record as the quote of the meeting. Joe picks up iPod knowledge in an effort to become a hero to his kid.

Joe reacted to bub's offer of "I've got drugs". Possibly she made that statement with regard to joe's sensitivity to feline dander.
