[JOB] Sr. Network Admin, NYC | 80-95k

Scope of Position

The Network Administrator is responsible for the development, installation, implementation, integration and maintenance of the operating and networking systems, infrastructure software/hardware platforms and transmission protocols. He/She has to be solid in CISCO and Macs as well as VOIP. This includes responsibility for the coordination of systems operations with applications systems, communications software/hardware and associated computing systems and equipment.

Position Summary

Plan, develop and coordinate the detailed design, implementation and documentation of operating systems software/hardware, networking protocols (including security) and applications integration to be approved by the Technical Director. Coordinate and perform systems monitoring and performance activities to ensure that optimal efficiency and productivity is constantly maintained. Develop fault diagnosis, isolation and resolution techniques and procedures. Responsible for meeting budget goals and objectives. Provide input to policy level objectives regarding standards, budget constraints, etc. Determines software and hardware requirements in conjunction with Information Technology management.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties of this position are performed under the general review and supervision of management personnel, specifically the Technical Director. A majority of assignments will be completed independently, subject to the periodic review and approval of Technical Director and IT Management:

Maintain the current infrastructure within our Company. We currently have 400 Macs and 25 PC’s. Our Network equipment is CISCO including the phone system which is CISCO VOIP units wireless and connected. This requires performing scheduled maintenance on systems that include, but not limited to: email, fileservers, web servers, DNS servers, DHCP servers, etc.:

• Maintain regular nightly back-ups of all critical systems.

• Consult and coordinate with users to determine the business functions and activities of the department; develop systems specifications based on these requirements after presenting found results Technical Director.

• Define project tasks and assist supervisor with task assignment; establish time-frames and project milestones; monitor progress to ensure compliance with project requirements; coordinate project status and updates with IT management.

• Direct and coordinate systems monitoring and performance tuning activities to ensure operation to standard and optimal efficiency and productivity of all system software and hardware components are constantly maintained.

• Determine need for and prepare detailed specifications for systems upgrades, monitoring tools, operations automation and enhancement packages, etc. Review and evaluate system alternatives; recommend system/equipment acquisition and purchase.

• Direct diagnostic, isolation and resolution of complex systems resource and utilization problems and errors that communicate across multiple operating system software and hardware, applications sets and networking protocols and platforms. Develop fault diagnosis, isolation and resolution techniques that ensure optimal performance of the data network is constantly maintained.

Reports to: IT Director with dotted line reporting to Technical Director
